Washed Upon A Murder

'After washing onto a private island, you soon find yourself in the middle of a murder mystery puzzle. The worst part? Everyone thinks you've dunnit!'

 

This project started developing during DunDev 2024 as part of Skyline Studios Games being accepted into the 4-week programme. 

I led the design and narrative of this project, ensuring that we kept faithful to the essence of a murder mystery experience. The original demo was made in UE4, though the game will be remade in UE5 and released in the future.

GAME PREMISE

You play as Sal, a soon-to-be retired private detective who is down on his luck and ends up washed upon a private resort after having a few drinks too many on his retirement cruise ship!

Not long after your arrival, you discover that the owner of the resort has been murdered and the worst part? They think you've dunnit!

The island is full of eccentric characters, all of whom have a motive to kill! Can you clear yourself and find the real killer? Or will you end up being known as the '
Washed Up' detective.

DEMO OVERVIEW

For this project, I created a Demo overview outlining all of the content planned for the DunDev demo version to share internally with my team. 

This document in particular only reflects the project at the time of DunDev, this includes details about the demo flow, characters and locations.

CHARACTERS

I wrote all the characters in Washed Upon A Murder using games such as Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, The Raven and Lamplight City as reference for narrative & character style.
